History of the South Strand

The coastal communities of Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet are nestled between the Intracoastal Waterway (Waccamaw River) and the Atlantic Ocean, at the southernmost tip of the Grand Strand. This coastal region, commonly referred to as the South Strand, is some of the most sought out and valuable, but yet affordable, real estate on the east coast. The Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet area boasts some of the most picturesque and well-known golf courses in the world! Bordering these pristine golf courses are a number of peaceful and elegant residential communities.


In addition to these prestigious golf courses, the Pawleys Island and Murrells Inlet area offers access to miles of flawless beach. Water and beach activities include swimming, boating, fresh and saltwater fishing, surfing, bird watching, relaxing, and strolling along the white, sandy beaches.
